Death in the backyard!
Good morning. Here's wishing you a lovely Thursday.
We had some sadness yesterday evening. A young deer, still with its spots, somehow managed to jump the fence into our yard. Something happened and the little fella was damaged. When we spotted it, the deer was trying to run. Its legs did not appear damaged but something was terribly wrong. The baby would get up and run along the fence in a spastic way, then fall down and kick. It did this repeatedly.
Richard went out and tried to help, but there was nothing he could do. The little fella died a short time later.
We were both affected by this incident. I am certain this baby was the one we had seen on the gravel road in front of our house a short time before, with its mother. So sad.
What this baby was doing in our yard is a mystery. Perhaps its mother had jumped the fence, and it tried to follow. She was nowhere to be seen, but we know she was there, in the woods, watching and feeling fearful for her baby.
Okay. Again have a good Thursday. I am having lunch in Reidsville with Joy, then getting a haircut.
Over and Out!
